Your healthy mouth is crucial to maintaining a healthy body, so wouldn't you want to do everything possible to protect your oral health.

A good relationship with your dentist is the foundation of healthy teeth and gums. When you visit your dentist for cleanings and checkups, the dentist can monitor any changes and identify symptoms of oral diseases in their earliest stages. It’s easier to treat these conditions before they’ve advanced.

Practicing healthy oral hygiene will maintain your smile along with visiting your dentist regularly, and taking care of your teeth and gums between checkups. Clark Dental Group would like to ensure that you receive the most out of your time with us and that your teeth stay healthy for life! We'll work with you to provide complete dental care, and teach you how to maintain your smile at home with the right, appropriate dental products for you, and your family.

DENTAL CLEANINGS AND REGULAR CHECKUPS

Regular dental cleanings completed by an experienced hygienist will also help to minimize the presence of bacteria that can cause tooth decay and gum disease.

During your regular checkup, your hygienist will:

    • Check for any problems that you may not see or feel
    • Look for cavities or any other signs of tooth decay
    • Inspect your teeth and gums for gingivitis, and signs of periodontal disease
    • Provide a thorough teeth cleaning, rinse, and polish

Taking good care of your teeth, and gums require visiting the dentist more than twice a year. What you do at home is just as important as what happens in the dental office. Be sure that you are brushing at least twice a day and floss daily. Ask your dental hygienist or dentist to demonstrate for you so that you’re using the right technique.

Dental Checkups are also a perfect way for you to learn out about new treatments, and procedures that may benefit your smile.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT TOOTHPASTE AND TOOTHBRUSH

When choosing products for your teeth such as mouthwash, toothpaste and toothbrushes make sure you choose one that has been approved by the American Dental Association (ADA). Our staff can also help by recommending certain dental products for you to use at home.

Do you know if you’re brushing for a long enough period of time? Aim for about two minutes any less doesn’t get the job done, and any more isn’t very effective, either. Patients who have problems with excessive plaque and tartar may also want to add an anti-bacterial mouthwash to their routines.

A healthy diet also will help you maintain a healthy smile. Get lots of fruits and vegetables, and cut down on the sugary drinks, and snacks.

If you take good care of your teeth and gums, you can have a beautiful, healthy smile for a lifetime. Discuss your daily routine with our dental team to see if any changes and adjustments to your oral care routine can benefit you.
